How Teeth-In-A-Day dental implants work
The revolutionary Teeth-In-A-Day procedure (also known as immediate load dental implants or same-day teeth) allows patients to have failing teeth extracted, implants placed, and a fully functional, aesthetic set of teeth attached all in a single appointment. Unlike conventional implant methods that required months of waiting with removable dentures or missing gaps while the bone healed, modern immediate loading protocols use high initial primary stability and rigid cross-arch splinting to protect the implants as they integrate with your jawbone.
The process begins with advanced digital planning. Utilizing our 3D CBCT digital imaging and iTero® 3D digital scanner, our implant dentists map your exact bone density, nerve pathways, and ideal implant trajectories in 3D virtual simulation. Customized surgical guides are fabricated to place four to six implants with sub-millimeter precision. Prior to your surgery, our team collaborates with master dental laboratory technicians to pre-fabricate your custom provisional teeth, ensuring they are ready to be tailored and securely anchored to your implants the moment surgery is complete.
On the day of treatment, our experienced doctors—Dr. Haider Kalhan, Dr. Gary Chin, and Dr. Cuong Luu—perform any necessary gentle extractions and place the implants using computer-guided surgery. We offer customizable sedation dentistry options including IV sedation so you rest completely comfortably throughout the procedure. Within hours, your temporary bridge is locked onto the implants, and you leave our Everett office with a bright, complete, functional smile.
Key benefits of Teeth-In-A-Day implants
The most immediate benefit of Teeth-In-A-Day is that you never spend a single day without teeth. Whether you are replacing a full arch through All-on-X dental implants or undergoing full arch reconstructions, you walk out of our clinic with fixed, non-removable teeth on the day of surgery. This eliminates the emotional anxiety, social embarrassment, and functional struggles of wearing loose temporary dentures or having gaps in your smile.
Beyond aesthetics, immediate loading stimulates living jawbone tissue right away, preventing the bone resorption and facial collapse that quickly occur following tooth extractions. Because the provisional bridge connects all the implants together (cross-arch stabilization), chewing forces are evenly dispersed, protecting individual implant fixtures while allowing you to enjoy a soft-food diet with comfort. Furthermore, combining extractions, implant placement, and provisional delivery into one surgical visit significantly reduces total healing time, dental appointments, and overall surgical trauma.
By combining high-resolution 3D digital planning with master dental laboratory craftsmanship, we ensure that your immediate smile looks natural and lifelike from day one. You can speak clearly, laugh freely, and return to work within days with renewed confidence. Post-op instructions
Proper post-operative care is vital to protect your new immediate-load implants while osseointegration takes place over the first 3 to 6 months. For the first 24 to 48 hours following surgery, rest quietly with your head slightly elevated. Apply an ice pack wrapped in a cloth to the outside of your cheeks in 20-minute intervals to minimize swelling. Take all prescribed pain medications and antibiotic rinses exactly as directed by our doctors to keep you comfortable and prevent infection.
During the osseointegration period, adhering to a soft-food diet is crucial. Because your implants are actively fusing with your jawbone, avoid hard, crunchy, tough, or sticky foods (such as nuts, raw carrots, tough meats, or crusty breads) that place excessive lateral torque on the fixtures. Enjoy nutritious soft foods like smoothies (without a straw), scrambled eggs, yogurt, flaked fish, pasta, and mashed potatoes. Do not use drinking straws or smoke, as negative pressure and nicotine dramatically impair healing and blood clot formation.
Maintain gentle oral hygiene starting 24 hours after surgery. Rinse gently with warm salt water or prescribed antimicrobial mouthwash after meals, being careful not to vigorously swish or spit. Brush your provisional teeth very gently with a soft-bristled manual toothbrush, avoiding the surgical incision lines directly until healed. Our team schedules regular follow-up visits to monitor your healing progress, and our dedicated implant care & maintenance program ensures your implants remain healthy for a lifetime. If you ever have questions or experience urgent concerns, our emergency dental team is always available in Everett.
